Hissa Abdullah Al-Badi
Hissa Abdullah Al-Badi is a poet and academic lecturer from Oman. She received her BA in Arabic Language from the United Arab Emirates University in 1999. She obtained her MA in Modern Literature from Sultan Qaboos University in 2001. She completed her PhD in Modern Criticism with Exeter University, UK.
Hissa’s first collection of poems was published in 2006 and the second in 2011. She is the author of Intertextuality in Modern Arabic Poetry, a book published in 2009. Hissa has been published in numerous Omani and other Arab publications.
Hissa has represented Oman in several international events, in Syria, Morocco, Egypt, GCC and the United Kingdom. She has won several leading national awards in poetry. Hissa Al-Badi was a member of the judging committee for the 8th Omani Poetry Festival in Sohar in 2012.
In 2016, Dr Hissa Al-Badi was named in a Royal Decree appointing her to the Omani Human Rights Commission.
